The realities we design around.

Industrial systems and capital equipment are built to run for years and to earn back a serious investment. That combination shapes every decision along the way.

We bring these realities into the innovation and development process early, helping teams make better decisions sooner.

A CAPEX decision tests the concept, not the pitch.

A new platform or retrofit needs to be manufacturable at the target cost before the investment is committed. Changes after that point can affect budgets, production schedules and time to market.

Technology that isn’t visible isn’t valued.

Automation, sensing and connectivity create value when they help people operate equipment, improve performance or simplify everyday work. We make those benefits tangible, so customers can understand what the technology will do for them.

Platforms must outlast the technology inside them.

Electronics, software and controls evolve on much faster cycles than the industrial equipment they support. Platforms built to run for years need to remain serviceable and allow upgrades as technology changes.

What we do for Industrial Systems

Prototype the platform early

We bring engineering, design, software, controls and manufacturing together to turn ideas into tangible prototypes within weeks. Testing concepts in real operating contexts helps teams understand how equipment fits the wider system and make faster, more confident decisions while the design is still easier to change.

  • Experience & concept prototyping
  • Technical validation
  • Controls & HMI validation

Engineer for manufacturing and service reality

We keep cost, assembly, serviceability and supply in view from the first concept, so an idea survives contact with CAPEX and industrialisation review.

  • Product design & engineering
  • DfM / DfA & cost optimization
  • Technical validation

Make the technology visible

We connect automation, sensing and connectivity into a proposition customers notice, understand and choose, so technical capability becomes commercial differentiation.

  • Experience design
  • AI-enabled features
  • Platform & ecosystem design

Design circular models for long-lived assets

We map service, retrofit and end-of-life pathways so long-lived equipment stays serviceable, upgradable and commercially viable across its lifecycle. We consider how these models support the customer’s business through reliable operation, longer asset life and lower operating costs.

  • Circular ecosystem mapping
  • Business model design
  • Impact measurement

In collaboration with Indeed Innovation, we’ve reimagined design responsibility through lifecycle analysis, take-back systems, and systemic change. GuideU Circular Journey is our lighthouse project, a bold, practical response to an industry ready for change but in need of proof.

Questions we hear from Industrial Systems teams

When should we involve INDEED in an industrial systems program?

We map service, retrofit and end-of-life pathways so long-lived equipment stays serviceable, upgradable and commercially viable across its lifecycle. We consider how these models support the customer’s business through reliable operation, longer asset life and lower operating costs.

Which products do you work on?

Industrial machinery, automation, instrumentation, professional equipment and intelligent physical systems, from stationary installations to handheld equipment. What they share is that engineering, software / controls and manufacturing all have to work together.

How do you handle long asset lifecycles alongside fast-moving electronics and software?

We work concurrently, not sequentially, and keep serviceability and upgrade paths in view from day one, so a platform built to run for years can still absorb the technology cycles ahead of it.

How quickly can we see something tangible?

Ideas become prototypes within weeks. An early experience prototype gives your team one shared reference to react to, and shows where usability, manufacturability or regulation will push back

Where does circularity fit in for capital equipment?

Circular thinking is part of how we design, from early eco-design decisions to service, retrofit, spare parts management and end-of-life business models. We develop practical design guidelines to help R&D teams focus on longevity, resource efficiency, maintenance and repair, so these considerations shape the platform before it reaches the field.

Which companies have you worked with in this industry?

For more than 15 years, we’ve worked with companies including Hilti, Siemens, KUKA, Sandvik, Bosch, STILL, Jungheinrich and Lufthansa Technik, AIRBUS, among many others. Several of these relationships span many years and multiple product generations.
