Many claim that their (developed) product will revolutionize the market. We decided
to proof it. We wanted to know exactly if the benchmarks could be achieved in
terms of intuitive usability, performance and cooking experience.
We got support from Ronny Loll. He is a professional chef and sceptic when it comes to
technical support beyond the blender in the kitchen. Accordingly, when we approached him with the request, his first and only condition was: “I tell the truth – whether I like it or not. And I do not mince words!”
You can therefore imagine our relief when the appetizer, a tomato soup, turned out to
be delicious with both machines – in the top-notch Thermomix and in the challenger Monsieur Cuisine Connect. The first hurdle was taken. Both devices worked as they should and without long to study the instruction manual, the professional navigated through the recipes and achieved successful results in series.
Surprisingly both devices scored with the risotto, the main course. “I was amazed that
these technical devices, the Thermomix as well as the Monsieur Cuisine Connect, could produce such excellent results in the short term. To achieve the perfect moment ensuring creaminess and slight graininess takes usually much longer.”, Ronny admitted. He was really impressed. And from our own cooking exercises in the meantime we have to add: It is worthwhile offering a risotto as a side dish if such a smart appliance takes over and you are free to supervise the other pots and pans on the stove.
Unexpectedly, Monsieur Cuisine Connect set apart from the champion Thermomix in the final
discipline, the dessert. “Thermi” friends will insist that one or two more seconds would have produced the same creamy and homogeneous result. But that’s not how it happened in our test: Same rotation speed, ingredients and time for both devices. And Monsieur Cuisine Connect succeeded. Camera crew and colleagues emptied the bowl within seconds after the camera stopped.
After an intensive test in the disciplines of starter, main course and dessert, chef Ronny sums up the battle between Monsieur Cuisine Connect and Thermomix:
(1/1) The tomato soup was fine with both devices.
(2/2) Both devices made a great risotto: Fine creamy, firm to the bite with a surprisingly short production time.
(2/3) With the dessert, Monsieur Cuisine Connect gains a small edge over the Thermomix.
The ice cream made from frozen fruits instantly gets a bit creamier and better with Monsieur Cuisine Connect.
Conclusion: Our hope that Monsieur Cuisine Connect can stand the test against Thermomix has been exceeded. While first and main course haven’t been any challenge, Monsieur Cuisine Connect outperformed competitors in the dessert category. Incidentally, both devices were even able to convince our pro, Ronny Loll, of the guided cooking experience. He cooked for the first time a three-course meal instructed by machines. But after the initial scepticism that two devices tell him what to do in which order, the user experience was convincing.
